Introducing the Little Artsy Aloe Blog

Hi everyone! I’m Jonalie, and welcome to the Little Artsy Aloe blog!

When I began my art business back in 2021, I remember really struggling to find a name for myself. What name could possibly capture my vibe, my entire artistic identity? After all, I spent my entire life doing all sorts of art forms: poetry, short stories, drawing, acting, singing, dancing, playing instruments, crocheting, and so many smaller projects far and between. While some people commit to mastering one or two art forms, I just couldn’t find that commitment. There are so many beautiful art forms out there, and I find so much joy in exploring and learning about them! I also really enjoy seeing how what I learn in one medium can be applied to another, and I think it makes me a more well-rounded artist!

So, when I chose the name “Little Artsy Aloe,” I felt it helped encapsulate what I wanted to do with my business. For me, it means that I’m just a short girl in this world who likes plants and delights in all art forms! With that being said, I’ll be using this blog to share my smaller projects, my thoughts on a variety of topics (i.e. video games, music, movies), and my adventures as I start to travel more.

You might be wondering, “what about your Instagram page/YouTube channel?” or “why write blog posts instead of making vlogs and reels?” If I’m being honest, the biggest reason is that I feel like my Instagram and YouTube are catered to my crochet audience. I feel like they expect me to post about my crochet projects, but I’m not always doing crochet-related things. As such, I feel kind of embarrassed about posting anything else.

This blog will allow me to write at my own pace about anything I want, without feeling pressured to post constantly or like I’m burdening my followers with topics that don’t interest them. As someone who gets stressed out during video editing, writing is easier because it allows me to focus more on telling the story than the aesthetics of a video. I can edit as much as I want, without having to write a script and record take after take after take. I feel less pressure to tell a whole story in a 10-second reel that takes hours to edit, to find the perfect caption or the perfect picture among a thousand.

Writing a blog allows me to spend more time doing what I actually enjoy, while still bringing you along for the ride. At the end of the day, it’s a more laid-back way for me to share what I’ve been up to and genuinely enjoying recently.

What will I be posting about?

  • Life as a crochet designer (projects, guides, tutorials, reflections)

  • My various art projects (drawing, short stories, dancing, clay art, literally anything!)

  • Reviews on video games, books, and movies

  • Travel and city exploration

If any of this interests you, please feel free to take a look around!

Have a splendiferous day!
